How do I convert a video file to be played in Springboard?

There are many different video formats all with their benefits and issues, however for a video to play within a bowser it must be the correct format, “H.262 (MP4)”.  

There are lots of different types of conversion software available. VLC is used within this example.

VLC is a free piece of software, please check the licensing agreement is appropriate for you before using and then download here
 

Fig 01 demonstrates how to convert a media file for use in Springboard:

  1. From the VLC menu bar click on Media > Convert/ Save [Shortcut: CTRL + R].
  2. Once the dialog box is opened. Click on the ADD button to browse for the files that you want to convert. Then click OPEN.
  3. Leave the rest as it is and then click on the CONVERT/SAVE button or enter on your keyboard.
  4. Set the COVERT option and the PROFILE as shown in (Fig 01), set the destination for the converted file.
  5. Click START, once converted the file will be present in the destination you have selected and can now be uploaded to Springboard.
